Frequencies available with the EVN

The principle wavebands/frequencies which can be observed with the EVN include:

WavebandDefault central frequency
18 cm1664 MHz
13 cm2268 MHz
6 cm4992 MHz
5 cm6668 MHz (Methanol),
6030 MHz (OH)
4 cm8418 MHz
1 cm22230 MHz

Observations are also possible at some stations at:

WavebandDefault Central Frequency
90 cm327 MHz
50 cm610 MHz
21 cm1416 MHz
2 cm15362 MHz
7 mm43214 MHz

A reasonably complete description of the frequencies available for VLBI observing is provided with SCHED (in the file '$SCHED/catalogs/freq.dat'), the standard program used for scheduling EVN observations. A more condensed description of the wavebands available at the EVN observatories can be found in the EVN status sheet.

The frequencies available at each of the observatories are presented graphically here: on a linear and a logarithmic frequency scale. The regions shaded red are the frequencies which are accessible to the various EVN observatories according to the SCHED catalogues (which are not quite complete). The VLA and VLBA frequencies (except 86 GHz) are indicated in blue for those interested in global observations. The bottom entry, in black, is a composite of all the frequencies available at one or more EVN observatories. These images are also available in postscript format (linear, and logarithmic).
